UAPB Fishing finishes 70th out of 139 teams in the 2017 FLW College National Championship on Wheeler Lake. Cody Salzmann and partner Aaron Porterfield qualified for this event by finishing 2nd in the Southern Conference Regional Qualifier on the Ouachita River last year. They had a tougher go this time around; only bagging 14 lbs 3 oz total over two days. While the finish was far from their goal, the journey to qualify for this event was difficult. They have done themselves, the team and the University proud the whole way! Full results here.

After an excellent practice, UAPB Fishing struggles on game day(s) of the Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Open on Lake Dardanelle. In this event's unique format, pairs of teams from the same school (with one to two people in each boat) work together to bring in the best 6 fish they can manage. Schools that can only field one boat, like UAPB, are allowed to bring 6 fish to the scales from one boat. Cody Salzmann and Kenneth "KP" Prince found size and numbers during practice but they did not respond day one of the event. After a good rebound on day two, Cody and KP finished 33rd out of 78 team groups. Full results here.

Cody Salzmann, Kenneth "KP" Prince and Justin "JT" Thomas teamed up for the Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Big Bass Bash on Kentucky Lake. Despite the cold, Kentucky Lake produced plenty large fish with an 8.49 lb fish bagged by Bethel University taking the win. Full results here

UAPB Fishing Team rigs just got more sensitive with Wolfstone Tungsten! Wolfstone is a new company providing high quality tungsten weights for Texas rig, Carolina rig and drop shot applications as well as fishing accessories at very competitive prices. Tungsten is more dense than lead. This increases the transmission of bottom composition and fish strikes from the lure to your hand, giving you a better feel for what is going on below the water. Also, tungsten weights are smaller in size than same-weight lead. This allows lures to slip through cover more easily and provides better hook-up ratios when using heavy cover punching-rigs. Check out what Wolfstone has to offer on their Facebook page!

Cody Salzmann and Aaron Porterfield finish 2nd out of 124 teams in FLW Southern Conference Regional held on the Ouachita River out of Monroe, LA with a 15 lb 15 oz limit! This qualifies them for the 2017 FLW National Championship on Wheeler Lake. Trenton Marshall and Kenneth "KP" Prince finished 75th. A strong showing for UAPB Fishing on a big stage! The UAPB Fishing Team struggled in the first Arkansas Collegiate Series Qualifier on the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff last weekend. Changing weather conditions and inactive fish made it difficult for everyone. Henderson State University managed to figure some things out and brought in a 9.54 lb limit that was, surprisingly, good enough for the win. Twenty-seven teams attended the first ACS qualifier and UAPB fielded 3 teams including 5 brand new members - great encouragement for the future of the club! We'll be back in action next month on Bull Shoals, September 24th. Click Here for Full Results, and Click Here for Photos of UAPB in action at this event!

REAL REVIEW with UAPB Fishing:

For the past several months, team members have been testing HI-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon from 8 to 20 lb tests. The consensus from the team is that although this line is a thicker diameter than most other fluorocarbons, it is also one of the strongest, one of the most sensitive, and it might be the most abrasion resistant line available. It excels as a pitching and flipping line where sensitivity and strength are paramount.
